Jennifer Merredew
Jennifer Merredew is a fine artist specialising in murals and decorative artwork. She has a broad range of work and styles. Jennifer has painted traditional ceilings for many of Scotlands grandest houses and castles, several of which have been public commissions.

Jennifer is equally happy to carry out private work, decorating all the rooms in the house from the most ornate reception rooms to the nursery.

Jennifer takes a personal approach to working with clients and draws inspiration historical souces, family albums and current cultural trends to produce murals or artwork that is vibrant, delicate or just plain fun.

UPDATES: Visit Jenny's Ceilings page for new work.

Jenny is currently working on new ceiling projects at Craigietocher Tower, where the Laird's Room and Great Hall are complete with the Minstrel Gallery yet to be done.

Jenny has recently completed several new large ceiling projects, the ceilings at Fa'Side castle, Kinlochaline Castle, Annecy in France, Glen Shee and Castle of Park. When the Minstrel Gallery at Castle of Park was re-instated Jenny was asked to go back and give it a traditional design.

The Fa'Side gallery also includes a piece by Sue Brash about working with Jenny and the process of deciding what images to use.

The Press page carries a very interesting, in-depth, article from the Scottish Castles Association about Jenny's work and methods, from her perspective and one of her past clients.

Several other pages have also been updated and now include new galleries in the Children's gallery with murals of Dinosaurs, Fairies, Nemo and Winnie the Pooh. There are two new galleries in the in the Interiors gallery with a decorative mural from Cranbourne Gardens and a trompe l'oeil notice board. In the Bathrooms gallery there is a toilet seat decorated to match the original Victorian floral motif.

Having trained in Scotland and discovered the beauty of traditional Scottish Painted Ceilings, I have made re-interpreting the genre a speciality. These can painted in situ or constructed off site and installed at a later date, minimising disruption.
